The story takes place in a nation called Panem that was previously North America. It is split into 13 sections called Districts in which the people live in. Panem is a futuristic nation that was a victim of many natural disasters. The capitol, which were the leaders of the nation, took over and were cruel to people. The 13th District was destroyed and obliviated. District 12 is the poorest District in Panem, but Districts 1,2, and 4 are the richest.In the story District 12 is nicknamed the Seam.
The train is where the tributes are taken to the arena. The train is first-class and fancy. Each tribute has their own room they can sleep in and it has a dinner table where they can eat breakfast,lunch, and dinner. They have a maid that are called an Avox who have commited a crime and had their tongue cut off so they may not speak. There is a roof where the people can stand on. If they try to escape they will be pulled back by an electric field.
The Arena is where the Hunger Games is settled. The Arena is different every year for participants.The Arena stretches for miles and miles and is made up of its own natural habitat. The Arena can be snowy,hot,a desert,even rainy. It also is full of plants and animals,so the Arena is a place that the participants must survive in as well. Therefore they must rely on the environment than killing.
